1960s 14k Gold Longines
1960s 14k Gold Longines
A distinctive solid 14 carat yellow Longines men’s wristwatch
The silvered satin dial remains in excellent condition and is decorated by the brand’s iconic winged hourglass logo, golden applied baton indices and golden baton hands
The star of the show is of course the cross hatch textured bezel, a finish I’ve only occasionally seen decorate the cases of Longines pieces of similar vintages
The outside of the case-back is stamped 14k, as is the inside alongside ‘Longines-Wittnauer Watch Co.Inc, New York, Geneva, Montreal’
Not unlike Dennison of Great Britain, base movements from Swiss brands such as Longines, Vacheron Constantin and Jaeger Le-Coultre were shipped to Wittnauer in the states and set in locally made cases to bypass high import taxes on luxury good between countries
The original plexi-glass is in good condition with just one scratch at 4 o’clock
The 17 Jewel, Swiss made, Longines signed manual wind movement runs smoothly and keeps excellent time
Fitted is a brand new black calf skin strap and gold tone buckle
