A Sterling Silver piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall
Alongside the renowned Anglo-Italian jeweller Andrew Grima, King was a pioneer of the ‘Bark Effect’, a desirable finish that lead to the acquisition of his pieces by celebrities such as Tom Jones and George Harrison, with Pattie Boyd (Harrison’s then wife) wearing one of King’s wedding bands to their ceremony
The black minimalist dial is decorated by silvered baton hands, King’s signature and ‘Swiss’
Reminiscent of the Rolex Cellini 4012, the watch features a Sterling Silver ridged case and bezel accented by a cabochon synthetic sapphire set winding crown
The case-back is boldly hallmarked and tells us the watch was assayed in London in 1978
Attached is the original Roy King black pressed leather strap and Sterling Silver buckle
Powered by a Swiss made, manual wind Bueche-Girod movement the watch runs smoothly and keeps excellent time
Presented in its original Roy King box
