A proper Sterling Silver piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall

Alongside the renowned Anglo-Italian jeweller Andrew Grima, King was a pioneer of the ‘Bark Effect’, a desirable finish that lead to the acquisition of his pieces by celebrities such as Tom Jones and George Harrison, with Pattie Boyd (Harrison’s then wife) wearing one of King’s wedding bands to their ceremony

This 1979 piece sports a black dial decorated with silvered baton hands

The stepped bezel is reminiscent of the iconic Cartier Gondole (a brand for which King was an unaccredited manufacturer) and remains in excellent condition, as does the boldly hallmarked case-back

Fitted is the original pressed leather strap (slight are related wear to the underside) and Sterling Silver buckle

Wound by the original crown is the Swiss made, manual wind FHF cal.69 movement that runs smoothly and keeps good time
