A proper Sterling silver piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall
Alongside the renowned Anglo-Italian jeweller Andrew Grima, King was a pioneer of the ‘Bark Effect’, a desirable finish that lead to the acquisition of his pieces by celebrities such as Tom Jones and George Harrison, with Pattie Boyd (Harrison’s then wife) wearing one of King’s wedding bands to their ceremony
This 1973 piece sports an unusual mirrored dial decorated with black Baton hands and King’s signature
The stepped bezel is reminiscent of the iconic Cartier Gondole (Cartier being a brand for which King was once a unaccredited manufacturer)
The monocoque case remains in wonderful condition and bears the marque’s statement hallmarks to the case back
The Milanese mesh bracelet remains in good condition. It’s fastened securely by King’s iconic multi setting buckle clasp, boldly hallmarked for London 1973
The original plated crown is in excellent condition
The original acrylic glass is clear
The Swiss made FHF cal.69 manual wind movement runs smoothly and keeps good time
