A 1972 Sterling Silver piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall

Alongside the renowned Anglo-Italian jeweller Andrew Grima, King was a pioneer of the ‘Bark Effect’, a desirable finish that lead to the acquisition of his pieces by celebrities such as Tom Jones and George Harrison, with Pattie Boyd (Harrison’s then wife) wearing one of King’s wedding bands to their ceremony

The gorgeous silvered bark finish dial features black Roman numerals and matching black Dauphine hands 

The bezel and bracelet’s bark/teak finish is a continuation of the dial‘s naturalistic styling

The integrated bracelet is formed of graduated solid silver circular links and is faster securely by a discrete folding clasp.  England’s ‘walking lion’ hallmark as well as Assay marks for London 1972 can be found stamped on two of the links 

The brushed silver snap on case back is boldly hallmarked to the inside 

The original acrylic glass remain ins good condition aside form minor clouding at 6 o’clock

The 17 jewel, Swiss made, Roy King signed manual wind movement runs smoothly and keeps good time
