A 1977 NOS condition Sterling Silver piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall

Alongside the renowned Anglo-Italian jeweller Andrew Grima, King was a pioneer of the ‘Bark Effect’, a desirable finish that lead to the acquisition of his pieces by celebrities such as Tom Jones and George Harrison, with Pattie Boyd (Harrison’s then wife) wearing one of King’s wedding bands to their ceremony

The clean white dial is decorated with black Roman numerals, black heavy diamond hands, a ‘chemin de fer’ minute track and King’s signature

The rectangular 18k gold plated Sterling Silver case is reminiscent of the Cartier Tank (Cartier being a company for which King was an unaccredited manufacturer) and remains in truly excellent condition

The case-back bears King’s classic statement hallmarks alongside the profile of the late Queen as the watch was assayed the year of her Silver Jubilee

The original Roy King black pressed leather strap is in superb cosmetic condition aside from some age related cracking to the upper near the end
