Thought to date back as early as the 1700s, Keeper rings were popularised in the Romantic era of the Victorian period.  These rings were used as pre-betrothal pieces with the sentiment ‘you’re a keeper’ in mind

Again brought into vogue in the 1970s, a Keeper was a must have accessory, often accompanied by a Curb Link bracelet adorning the wrist and a gold Ingot worn on a Belcher Link chain around the neck

Professionally resized at some point during its life, this example has lost its ‘date letter’ but is believed to have been assayed in the early 20th Century

Assayed at the Chester assay office (closed in 1962)

Made by Viners Ltd-Edward Viner
