An extraordinary 123 year old 1903 sterling mounted leather panatella cigar case
As an alternative to a straight forward embossing or engraving, the giver of this Christmas gift took the time (and spent the money) to have their sentiments expressed in sterling silver painstakingly formed and applied to the leather upper of the case. Not doubt the lucky recipient, Mr W Gale Waltham, was touched by the thoughtful 1905 Xmas gift
The sterling silver mounting bears bold hallmarks for Birmingham 1903 while on the reverse is hand engraved ‘W. Gale. Waltham Melton-Mowbray’
The leather is wonderfully patinated while remaining solid yet supple
The case will accommodate cigars rolled to a more ‘classic’ dimension. A case ideal for a panatella type cigar of up to an approximate 36 ring guage. Of course the case can be ‘extended’ to allow for varying lengths
A true piece of history once can continue to enjoy and make use of today
