A remarkable 111 year old antique ‘continental’ silver wristwatch
The dial remains in tremendous condition (not just for its age) and boasts pumpkin lume Art Deco Arabic numerals with lume intact alongside syringe and spade hands, again lume intact. Also featured is a subtle minute track and a sub seconds dial at 6 o’clock
The .935 sterling or continental silver case is in excellent shape, featuring fixed lugs and a hinged snap on case back
The inside of the case back is boldly stamped with the Swiss ‘prancing bear’ hallmark for sterling silver alongside a fineness stamp
British hallmarks show the piece was imported and assayed in London in 1915 with a maker’s mark for jewellers George Stockwell
The original domed acrylic glass is in good condition
Fitted is a newer black calf skin strap and steel buckle
The 15 jewel, manual wind Swiss made movement (featuring a precise engine turned/guilloché finish) runs smoothly and keeps good time
