‘Bean’ lighter by Italian jewellery designer Elsa Peretti for Tiffany
Signing with Tiffany in 1974, former fashion model Peretti’s work for the marque was the first time the brand had sold jewellery in sterling silver in 25 years
Liza Minelli was known to wear almost exclusively Peretti’s silver since her introduction to the pieces by fashion designer Halston in the 70’s, attracted to the ‘sensual’ and ‘sexy’ designs
The abstracted Lima ‘Bean’ pendant was an instant hit and led to the creation of many similarly styled pieces including this brilliant lighter
This rare piece is formed of solid sterling silver with an insert fuelled by lighter fluid
The hinged lid is sprung and remains satisfyingly solid
The body of the Bean is pleasantly patinated in a manner only time can replicate
Stamped to the base of the lighter is ‘T&Co. Peretti 925’
Very good working condition
The insert can be removed for refuelling with lighter fluid
Complete with original sales receipt showing a purchase date of 2003 from Tiffany on Old Bond Street in London
