An outrageous 1950s silver plated, petrol fuelled Dunhill Sylphide letter opener lighter
It was evident Dunhill let their designers’ minds run wild with this piece! Replacing the fuel cap with a silver plated letter opener was indeed a master stroke
The Sylphide was initially introduced in the early 50s as a light weight lighter intended for discrete pocket use with evening wear. The addition of the letter opener might have made the piece more conspicuous but no less elegant
The lighter itself remains in excellent condition, featuring an intricate guilloché design to the body and gorgeous bluing the base. Presented in very good working order
