A gorgeous 1950s Dunhill tortoise shell cigar cutter
The shell remains a marvellous example with only slight surface marks and no cracks or chips
The masterfully finished scalloped edges at the top of the cutter allow for a good purchase of the guillotine blade while the bail allows for the cutter to be hung from a chain and worn through the lapels of a jacket or button holes of a waistcoat
The blade itself was made by French master knife maker Charles Louis Eloi Pernet. So revered was his work that Pernet was called upon to create unique designs not only for Dunhill but for Hèrmes and Dupont
There are slight signs of oxidation on the metal but the action remains smooth and the blade cuts well. Ideal for Petit Corona size cigars
Presented in its equally rare original Dunhill box
Aperture diameter - 1.45cm
Cutter dimensions - 5.9 x 0.3 x 5.7cm
