A remarkable 1960s 18k yellow gold piece from Favre-Leuba, one of the oldest luxury Swiss watch brands
The flawless silvered cross hair dial is decorated with golden baton hands and ‘Favre-Leuba’ at 12
The sensational solid gold case (recently benefitting from a professional polish) features a textured/cross-hatch bezel with raised Baton/Dauphine indices. Rather than making and applying the bezel separately, this example was worked into the case. Work had to be precise and without fault as mistakes would have been costly and time consuming to correct
The case back is in wonderful shape with only one small ding pictured upper left. This does not at all interfere with the snap back closure
Alongside the obvious fineness markings the inside of the case back is stamped with the profile of Helvetia, the female national personification of Switzerland and the county’s hallmark for 18 carat gold
The original domed acrylic glass is clear and secure
Fitted is a vintage NOS white calf skin strap with gold tone buckle
The manual wind, Favre-Leuba signed Swiss made movement has just undergone and full and comprehensive service. It runs smoothly and keeps good time
