A marvellous 1960s 9 carat solid yellow gold mounted guillotine cigar cutter
While the Americans have their 10/14ct gold and the Europeans their 18, 9ct remains very British
The octagonal cutter boasts a hypnotic guilloché finish and features a gold bale allowing for wear from a chain through the button hole of a waistcoat or lapel of a jacket
British hallmarks show us the piece was made by jewellers S J Rose & Son and was assayed in London in 1965
The stainless steel blade remains sharp and precise
The aperture is an ideal size for Petit Corona or 42mm ring gauge cigars but will accommodate the cutting of the cap of larger smokes
The resilient .375 gold fineness allows for everyday use with minor commensurate wear
Weight - 24.6g
