A classically elegant 1979 18 carat yellow gold Corum Tank style wristwatch
Alongside talented watchmaker Gaston Ries, the legend that is René Bannwart (mastermind behind the Omega Cosmic Moonphase, Constellation, Seamaster and the iconic ‘pie pan’ dial) founded Corum in 1955
This refined piece features a golden ‘linen’ dial decorated with black Roman numerals, golden hands and ‘Corum’, above which sits the brand’s applied skyward pointing key logo
The solid 18 carat yellow gold case remains in wonderful condition and is accented by the synthetic cabochon sapphire set winding crown
As well as a stamp to the side of the crown, the inside of the case back is boldly hallmarked, showing import marks for Sheffield 1979 (including ‘SAO’ for the Sheffield Assay Office) as well as fineness markings of 750. Also present is the profile of Helvetia, the national personification of Switzerland and the country’s hallmark for 18ct gold
The original acrylic glass remains clear
Fitted is a vintage black leather strap and gold tone buckle
The Corum signed cal.2512 17 jewel Swiss made manual wind movement runs smoothly and keeps good time
