An wondrous 9 carat yellow gold 1975 Bueche-Girod
Vital Bueche founded Bueche-Girod in Bienne in 1947. The company garnered such respect from the 1950s through the 70s that brands such as Cartier, Bulova and Universal Geneve used their cases and movements in many of their pieces
Frank Sinatra was known to have worn a Bueche-Girod whilst not a small portion of Scorsese’s budget for his movie ‘Casino’ was spent on Robert De Niro’s tri-colour piece
The minimalist black lacquered dial remains in lovely condition despite slight fading to the ‘Bueche-Girod’ lettering at 12 o’clock. It’s decorated with elegant golden Dauphine hands
The stunning solid 9ct gold case features a wonderfully executed ‘bark’ finish bezel reminiscent of Andrew Grima’a ‘Teak’ watch from his ‘About Time’ collection
As well as a fineness of ‘375’ to the underside of the bezel at 2 o’clock, the inside of the case back bears bold hallmarks for London 1975 alongside periodic service markings
Matching the finish of the case is the insane solid gold buckle and pin! Both are beautifully executed and boast bold hallmarks again for 9ct gold and London 1975
The original mineral crystal glass remains clear and secure
Fitted is a black pressed leather strap
The Swiss made, 17 jewel Bueche-Girod signed manual wind movement runs smoothly and keeps good time
Presented in its original box alongside original Bueche-Girod zip up suede pouch and a section of the sales certificate dated 1977
