A vintage 1970s 10 micron yellow gold plated J.W. Benson tank style wristwatch
The British brand, founded in 1847, was official watchmaker to the Admiralty and War Departments and held a number of royal warrants including to Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales
During World War II the factory was bombed destroying thousands of timepieces. From this point onwards the company ceased manufacturing their own watches but continued as a retailer. The timepieces bearing the company name used high quality Swiss made movements. This is one of those pieces
The classic white dial is decorated with black Roman numerals, black baton hands, a minute track and ‘J.W. Benson London’ at 12
The 10 micron gold plated case remains in very good condition with only minor signs of wear to the brushed case back
Accenting the case is the synthetic cabochon sapphire set winding crown
Fitted is a tasteful NOS vintage brown genuine lizard skin strap presented in excellent condition
The Swiss made, manual wind Juvenia MFG Cal.765 movement runs smoothly and keeps good time
