Presented in near mint condition is this Sterling Silver Vermeil piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall
Alongside the renowned Anglo-Italian jeweller Andrew Grima, King was a pioneer of the ‘Bark Effect’, a desirable finish that lead to the acquisition of his pieces by celebrities such as Tom Jones and George Harrison, with Pattie Boyd (Harrison’s then wife) wearing one of King’s wedding bands to their ceremony
The finish on the golden dial continues through from the lugged Milanese Mesh bracelet and is decorated with King’s signature and black baton hands
The gold plated solid Sterling Silver monocoque case features a stepped bezel reminiscent of the Cartier Gondole (a brand for which King was a unaccredited manufacturer). The case back bears bold hallmarks for London 1976
The bracelet is in wonderful condition and is fastened securely by the brand’s iconic buckle clasp. This too is boldly hallmarked
The original synthetic glass is in very good condition. The only true sign of wear is to the plating on the buckle
The Swiss made, manual wind FHF cal.69 movement has just undergone a full and comprehensive service. It runs smoothly and keeps excellent time
