A 1973 Sterling Silver piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall
Alongside the renowned Anglo-Italian jeweller Andrew Grima, King was a pioneer of the ‘Bark Effect’, a desirable finish that lead to the acquisition of his pieces by celebrities such as Tom Jones and George Harrison, with Pattie Boyd (Harrison’s then wife) wearing one of King’s wedding bands to their ceremony
The very clean and exceptionally rare blue dial is decorated with silvered baton hands and King’s signature
The Sterling silver monocoque case remains in wonderful condition and features very chic stepped bezel reminiscent of the Cartier Vendôme (a brand for which King was an unaccredited manufacturer)
The case back features King’s iconic statement hallmarks for London 1973
The original acrylic glass remains clear and secure
The blue leather strap is in good condition, as is the original Roy King Sterling silver buckle
The Swiss made, manual wind FHF cal.69 movement runs smoothly and keeps good time
