A gorgeous c.1973 sterling silver Longines made in collaboration with esteemed French designer Serge Manzon
Manzon, celebrated for his bold, sculptural style, partnered with Longines to create 20 or so designs all challenging traditional wristwatch aesthetics
As well as attracting established watch collectors, these distinctly avant-garde creations fast became collectors’ pieces amongst those with a neoteric eye that had not formally found themselves drawn towards the world of wristwatches
This piece features a refined cross hair cream enamel dial decorated with silvered baton hands and bold Longines lettering at 12 (hairline crack to the enamel to the right of this)
The solid sterling silver case is in great condition. The sunken/concealed crown further accentuates the bezel’s refined shape
The underside of the bezel is stamped with the ‘Canard’ hallmark (the Swiss mark for sterling silver) as is the inside of the case back alongside a fineness marking of ‘0.925’
The original acrylic glass is in good condition with light surface scratches
The Longines brown crocodile skin strap is in good condition with light wear between the ‘scutes’. It’s fastened securely by the steel Longines buckle
The Longines signed, Swiss made cal.5601 manual wind movement has just undergone a service. It runs smoothly and keeps good time
