A 1973 Sterling Silver Vermeil piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall
Alongside the renowned Anglo-Italian jeweller Andrew Grima, King was a pioneer of the ‘Bark Effect’, a desirable finish that lead to the acquisition of his pieces by celebrities such as Tom Jones and George Harrison, with Pattie Boyd (Harrison’s then wife) wearing one of King’s wedding bands to their ceremony
The very clean and exceptionally rare dark green dial is decorated with golden baton hands and King’s signature
The circular stepped bezel is reminiscent of the Cartier Vendôme (a brand for which King was a unaccredited manufacturer)
The case back features King’s iconic statement hallmarks
The acrylic glass remains clear and secured
The green leather strap is in great condition, as is the original Vermeil buckle
The Swiss made, manual wind FHF cal.69 movement runs smoothly and keeps good time
