A sensational 1977 Sterling silver piece by esteemed jeweller Roy King, winner of two first prizes, a second and a third at the British Modern Jewellery Exhibition in 1961. The winning pieces are now in the permanent collection of Goldsmith’s Hall
This fine example features a classic white dial accented by black Roman numerals, leaf hands, ‘chemin de fer’ minute track and King’s iconic signature lettering
The Sterling Silver vermeil monocoque case, reminiscent of that of the Cartier Ceinture (Cartier being a brand for which King was once an unaccredited manufacturer), features a stepped bezel and bold statement hallmarks to the case back (stunning patination)
Alongside King‘s iconic deep hallmarks is stamped the profile of the late Queen as the watch was assayed the year of her Silver Jubilee
The rare, lugged Sterling silver vermeil bracelet is in wonderful condition. Chunky yet supple it compliments the watch head wonderfully. Hallmarked in a few places but most noticeably to the ‘ladder’ section of the clasp with the ‘RCK’ markers mark and assay stamps for London 1977. The iconic buckle clasp fastens securely
The original acrylic glass remains clear and secure
The Swiss made FHF cal.69 manual wind movement has just undergone a full service. It runs smoothly and keeps good time
A rare beast in marvellous shape
